ABOUT SPIRIT DOG YOGA
PERSONALIZED YOGA AND AROMATHERAPY
Spirit Dog Yoga was founded by Nancy Engelhardt 200RYT as an expression of her own personal growth through yoga. Nancy originally began practicing yoga nearly 20 years ago in Oregon to recover from the loss of range of motion following a serious ankle injury suffered while serving in the US Army.
Through mindfulness meditation, aromatherapy and yoga, Nancy rediscovered the joy and peace of yoga to deal with daily stress. In 2014 she enrolled in a yoga teaching program with the intent of deepening her own practice but once she taught her first restorative yoga class, she knew she wanted to share the benefits of yoga and essential oils with others.
Since she couldn't keep them off the mat, she began incorporating her dogs into her own yoga practice and discovered the benefits of essential oils for her dogs dealing with anxiety and physical ailments. It is not a stretch to consider practicing yoga with four-legged fur babies considering so many poses are named after the movements of dogs and other animals.
During her yoga practice, Nancy uses her own special blends to enhance the experience:
Prana -- a respiratory blend that opens your sinuses to improve breathing.
Asana -- an invigorating blend to energize you during your yoga flow.
Shanti -- a peaceful blend to encourage relaxation for Shavasana and meditation.
All essential oils are high-quality 100% pure, certified organic. Remember that some citrus essential oils may cause photosensitivity that may result in a pink or red skin rash, blisters, scaly patches, or raised spots on areas directly exposed to the sun. It is best to wait a minimum of six hours before exposing skin to direct sunlight.
Nancy has received advanced training in yoga therapy, AromaTouch certification, as well as Oils for Pets certification.

Namaste, or for dogis -- Nama-stay!
I took a class, along with my friend, with Nancy back in September in the Outer Banks (was visiting the area with friends). She is an excellent teacher and it was an awesome class. Would recommend her and would love to take one of her classes again!!
Nancy is very caring and kind. Her calming voice allows you to relax and stay focused with your breath and keep your mind from "monkeying" around. She shares her knowledge of aromatherapy/essential oils in class as well as classes dedicated to the seven Chakras. It's a gift to myself to be in her class each week.
Best restorative yoga teacher for me. A great way to start and end the week. She will be missed on the OBX.
